After two winters I can say that I love my bean boots. They keep your feet warm no matter what! You can go though puddles, snow (what little there is in louisiana), and cold mud while still keeping your feet in perfect comfort. This is great for when I have to feed the horses during the winter as main path usually turns muddy after rain. Cold weather and wet, muddy feet aren't fun. Also my college campus has a tendency flood and with these boots I have forded many of lakes that would call themselves puddles. I definitely think they were worth the $200 I paid for them (I got the shearling lined ones which are the ones I recommend).

I have an old pair of Sorel Caribou pack boots, that date back to when they were made in Canada, that are of similar design and they are the greatest things ever. Sure, they weigh a ton but you feet never get cold in them.

I can't believe they were out of stock at LL Bean this winter. People just couldn't find them.
I saw a kid at the store the other day with his skinny jeans tucked in to them on a 60 degree day.
Then again, I never thought I would see boat shoes or skinny jeans on teenagers again, so what the fuck do I know.

Meanwhile in Canada...
I don't really change my normal footwear between summer and winter. If I know I'll be spending a couple days outside in deeper snow, I might take the time to dig out my Merrell Ice Blades. But otherwise? Nah. Just my regular Timberland Helixes if I need toe protection or else regular running/dress shoes depending on level of dress. I find most winter footwear too be too warm. You sweat, you die. I'll stay dry, thank you!
